After 36 weeks of construction our home was completed and ready for us to move in. With the help of some local lads that had done work on our build, we managed to relocate from our temporary accommodation to the new house on 23 & 24 December. I had wanted to be in by Christmas – so we made it.

One of contractors on our build had a number of sons & grandsons who showed up with a pick up truck and loaded all our furniture and household boxes to make the few hundred meter journey. Everything was moved without incident and we spent the next two weeks unpacking and sorting out our belongings into the new house. There was no rush & everything found a home, eventually. It all seemed to fit just right and the colors of what we had matched nicely with our new decor.

YouTube Channel – this video is all about the post building & settling in activity over weeks 37, 38, 39 & 40. It covers our move, finishing the driveway & gates, the Buddhist house warming ceremony, some early garden plantings & water features, furniture delivery & a final construction cost breakdown. I have not covered this in the post below as there is lots of detail in this video – (Check it out – click link) – Thai House – Post Build Activity & Settling In

This is the last of the house building videos as it is all finished and we are moved in. This video on the 1 month post the build covers some of the finishing work outside the house, our move, Buddhist house blessing & provides a build cost breakdown, for those interested.

The house is 224 sq m (166 inside & 58 outside porches) plus46 sq m carport/storeroom. Overall we have been happy with our young builder (Symmetry Construction) & what he has delivered for us. From our build and videos, he has gained a couple of other customers that want a house built. This is his FB link – https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?…

Unfortunately I have had a medical challenge with my bladder resulting from a long term impact from earlier prostrate cancer treatments (prostatectomy & follow up radiation treatments). This has resulted in seeing a urologist in Nakhon Phanom Hospital & having a catheter installed. I have this device for 2 weeks until 4 February, & unfortunately it is causing me some difficulties. As a result I am rather restricted in doing much of anything for these 2 weeks. Frustrated is an understatement.

Thanks for watching our journey over the past 8 months. It is now time to relax, head into 2025 & do other things – such enjoying our new home, gardening and landscaping projects & some getting out and about in the Issan (NE Thailand) region.
