The Australian Consulate in Chiang Mai does not accept or process visa applications for Australia.

A number of calls each week are received regarding visa matters that are then simply referred to the Australian Visa Application Center.

There are many different visa types and classes depending on your intended travel reasons.  You need to check out the websites below to find the visa that best suits your requirements and follow the details on these websites on how to apply.

The Department of Immigration and Border Protection at the Australian Embassy in Thailand have responsibility for processing visa applications for people who are resident in Thailand.

Everyone except for Australian citizens will need to obtain a visa prior to travelling to Australia.

Australian Visa Application Center

All visa applications, except for Refugee and Humanitarian Entry, should be lodged at an Australian Visa Application Center in Thailand operated by VFS Global at these locations.

Visa information & how to apply

Clients are advised not to book flights or make travel commitments until your visa application is finalised. The department will not be liable for any financial loss incurred by clients whose visa application was finalised later than expected or where an application is unsuccessful.

Introduction of Biometrics Collection for Visa Applicants in Thailand

From 3 May 2016, the Department of Immigration and Border Protection will commence collecting biometrics in Thailand from clients applying for Australian visas.

Visa applicants will need to attend an AVAC (in Bangkok or Chiang Mai) in person to provide their biometrics.  More information.
